DOCTORS OF OPTOMETRY
Suzzane Li, OD, FAAO
Dr. Li graduated from Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry with a Doctorate of Optometry degree in 2016, then completed a post-doctoral residency in ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation at the Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs Hospital. In 2018, she has achieved the prestigious status of being a Fellow at the American Academy of Optometry, which accounts for less than 10 percent of the practicing optometrists in the U.S.
Dr. Li prides herself in customizing each patient’s eye exam to their needs while making the process a fun and relaxing experience. She strongly believes in lifelong learning to provide her patients with the best eye care. Therefore, when she is not working at Simpli Eye Care, she teaches optometry students and residents at the Veterans Affairs Hopsital. She is currently an adjunct clinical faculty at the Ohio State University College of Optometry, and Marshall B. Ketchum University Southern California College of Optometry.
Dr. Li loves trying new food and finding new challenges! Her latest accomplishment includes becoming a certified Les Mills Body Pump group fitness Instructor and a PADI scuba diver. She also loves spending time with her dog, Kiba.

Haley Penrod, OD
Dr. Haley Penrod grew up in Tucker, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Following optometry school, Dr. Penrod completed an intensive training in Wichita, Kansas that focused in pediatrics, vision therapy, traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, and comprehensive vision and medical eye care for pediatric/adult patients.
Dr. Penrod practiced in Atlanta, GA for several years. Then she made Tucson, AZ her new home in 2020 when her husband was restationed at Davis Monthan.
She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, College of Optometrists in Vision Development, Southern Arizona Optometric Society, Georgia Optometric Association, and Tanque Verde Valley Lions Club. She also provides eye care to underserved populations through many local vision screenings and has provided optometric mission trips in Haiti and Columbia.
Dr. Penrod enjoys being outdoors, loves cooking new recipes, exploring new places, and taking care of her plants.

Raees Loonat, OD
Dr. Raees Loonat is a native Tucsonan. He obtained his bachelor of science in Physiology at the University of Arizona in 2014. As a new graduate from Southern California College of Optometry, he is eager to give back to the community that raised him. In his free time, he enjoys working out at the gym, playing video games, and cooking. He also received LASIK so if you have any questions about the procedure feel free to ask!

Tammy Nguyen, OD
Dr. Tammy Nguyen has lived and provided primary eye care in Tucson for 20 years. She enjoys meeting patients and helping them with their eye care needs. She completed her bachelor of science in Psychobiology at the University of California, Riverside. She received her Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. During her free time, she loves to travel and enjoy all kinds of foods and wine. She has four dogs that keeps her busy.

Jacquelyn Valfre, OD, FAAO
Dr. Jacqueline Yi is a native of Tucson, Arizona. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physiology and a minor in music. She received her Doctor of Optometry in 2019 from the University of Houston where she graduated with honors and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. She completed a residency in ocular disease and primary care at the VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Dr. Yi is a member of the American Optometric Association, Arizona Optometric Association, Southern Arizona Optometric Society, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. In her spare time, she likes to crochet, game, cook, and spend time with her husband and 2 pugs.
